Prize Winners
by Dale Dapkins
“The stories here are wonderfully inventive and affecting. They are a deep dive into the unconscious, using language that reminds me of Finnegan's Wake. I look forward to more great work from the author.”
-Peter Wycoff
Prize winning short stories by a great gonzo writer. In addition to twice winning the prestigious Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition, he’s a trained psychologist and antique rug merchant -- a background as diverse as his stories, a genre he dubs “social science fiction.”
About the Author
Dale Dapkins served in the Peace Corps in Turkey in the late sixties. Apprenticing to an Armenian merchant, he became an independent antique oriental rug dealer. Writing came later. His first novel American Broccoli and Dr. Breast was published in 1988. He won the Grand Prize in the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition in 1999 and again the following year, a never-repeated feat.
