Someone Cares

“I’m hooked; I don’t mind admitting it. I’ve read every book in Renee Kumor’s River Bend Chronicles … and feel like I’m a resident there, along with Lynn and Dusty and Sonny and the other inhabitants of the wonderful romance series.”
- Rosemary Mason, 123 for ME!

Being a parent is filled with challenges. Through generations men and women have stumbled into success and failure as parents. Dusty spent his first four months as a stepfather, trying to find the right balance between discipline and friendship.
After another fight with Jason, Dusty spends the evening in his office and hears about a fight in the park over his scanner. Jason and his friends were at the park! The detective rushes to the park to find Jason’s truck – and nothing else. Soon rumor of a missing fishing boat has Dusty concerned that Jason and the boat may be together.
For much of the story Dusty searches for a good role model to pattern his parenting. While he makes an effort to improve, another man, Sean Hennessey, has returned to River Bend and learns that his father was a sad and lonely man, a man who died before he ever made peace with his son.
Everyone has ideas on parenting. And the mystery is not who attacked Jason, but will Dusty learn from his mistakes.

Renee Kumor was a stay-at-home mom for several years developing a personal ethic of community service. She began writing a political opinion column for the local newspaper, but retired from writing when she announced her candidacy for local political office. After eight years as a county commissioner, she returned to non-profit service and began writing a monthly column for the newspaper on non-profit management and service issues. The setting for the River Bend Chronicles series reflects her early life in Ohio and her later years in western North Carolina.
