Zoo in a Book

by George Davidson

“The photos are great but the adjacent quotes really get us thinking about our relationship with other living organisms.”
- Marcy Birdweather, Marcy’s Musings

“Meow” means “woof” in cat.”
- George Carlin

“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”
- Winston S. Churchill

“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.”
- Ellen DeGeneres

A wonderful gift, here are more than 100 pages of photographs of animals, wild and domestic, each accompanied by quotations by insightful observers ranging from Mahatma Gandhi to Stephen King, Fyodor Dostoyevsky to William Shatner, Isaac Bashevas Singer to Farley Mowat. Rather than viewing animals through the bars of a zoo, you will delight in these magnificent photos of lions and tigers and bears, oh my! All in full color.

About the Author

George Davidson’s first job out of college was in the art department of a daily newspaper, but he gradually moved over to the editorial side. He has worked for publishing houses in New York and London. He has a small dog, pictured herein. He is against whaling and dolphin roundups and killing baby seals. He once stepped into a cage with a tiger at a zoo, and survived. “I said, ‘Nice kitty kitty,” he reports. Moving across the editor’s desk, this is his first published book.
