Interactive
THE MYSTERY OF MAGRITTE takes users on an entertaining journey through the life and work of Rene Magritte. The disc is divided into six non-linear sections, with more than 400 paintings, drawings, and illustrations, video and audio interviews with the artist, and vintage film clips. Recurring motifs, such as the bowler hat and the pipe are examined and explained in Images. Magritte' s tragic childhood, his love life, and their effect on his work are discussed in Biography. Craft examines Magritte's technique, his early influences, and his experiments in other mediums such as collage, sculpture, and photography. Surrealism profiles artists such as Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, and Max Ernst, and examines their influence on Magritte. The conceptual sections, Combination of Images and Words and Images, further mines the visual language of Magritte's paintings, examining how the seemingly strange juxtaposition of images and motifs make the pictures visually more effective and delves into the intricate relationship between word and image.
