Under the Andes (Illustrated)

Twenty years before he created Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin, Rex Stout was writing for the pulp magazines. This adventure tells about two wealthy playboy brothers and an exotic French dancer trapped in a cave under the Andes Mountains where they face a lost tribe of Incans. From a reptilian monster with tentacles to whale-like fish to hoards of pygmy warriors, you’ll be amazed that this action-packed thriller, replete with love triangle, came from the pen of the “Grand Old Man of American Crime Fiction.” This edition contains more than 80 new illustrations of the sexy Desiree Le Mire and her two stalwart protectors as they do battle in this improbable but entertaining full-length novel.

The man who was named Grand Master of detective fiction in 1959 by the Mystery Writers of America and was nominated in 2000 at Bouchercon as the best detective writer (and his Nero Wolfe series the best series) of the twentieth century, was as colorful as his iconic characters.
