Walter the Weirdo

Walter the Weirdo

by H. L. Osterman

“H .L. Osteman’s new sleuth Walter the Weirdo shares the same territory as my own character Wharton “Four Fingers” Dalessandro – they solve murders in the Southernmost City in the Continental US. Even though the island is only 4.2 square miles in size, there’s plenty of room for both of these clever oddballs.”
- Shirrel Rhoades, author of Four Fingers Four-Minute Mysteries

Pulp writer H.L. Osterman gives mystery lovers a new kind of “detective,” Walter de Worcester – better known as Walter the Weirdo.” A disbarred lawyer, Walter is a homeless man living on the streets of Key West. Walter likes his carefree island life – other than getting hassled by the local cops. But he redeems himself by helping Chief Sam Marrero solve murders. With a personality somewhere on the autistic spectrum, his mental gears work in strange ways allowing him to add 2 + 2 and get 22. You will enjoy these clever puzzles that lets you share in Walter’s skills of observation and analytical abilities. Walter the Weirdo is a different kind of sleuth, kind of a Hercule Poirot who has fallen onto hard times … but nonetheless cheerfully making the best of it.

About the Author

Howard Lowell Osterman collected a few rejection slips from popular magazines before deciding he preferred the steady salary of a staff writing position with a newspaper. That led to other “writing gigs” with magazines and book publishers. “A good living,” Osterman tells it. “But in my spare time I kept cranking out sensational novels and short stories. My dirty little secret, I call them, usually working under pseudonyms to avoid conflicts with employers looking for a pound of flesh.” He has lived in New York, Chicago, and Daytona. He enjoys watching old film noir movies. He hopes one day to write a screenplay.
