Travel in Havana: A Look-See Book
by Brewster Chamberlin
“Here is a beautiful picture book that will be as close as you’ll come to a trip to Cuba without setting foot on Cuban soil. More than just a visual tour, this an insider’s introduction to the just-south-of-Florida island nation and its historic capitol city. You will walk along the wave-splattered Malecón and stroll the narrow cobblestone streets of La Habana Vieja, visit the nightclubs and cigar factories, go inside Hemingway’s Finca Vigia and stand on the shore of the seaport of Cojimar. Put this book on your coffee-table.”
- Barthélemy Banks, Mumm
Not just the capital of Cuba, Havana is a pastiche of Afro-Cuban music and fading pastel architecture, wizened cigar makers and practiced rum distillers, early Taino beginnings and rich Spanish heritage, old men on bicycles and young men cruising the streets in front of El Capitolio in dazzling ‘50s automobiles. With nearly 200 full-color photographs of the Cuban people and crumbling historic buildings, assorted maps and colorful antique posters, this 8” x 8” treasury will make you long to go there or dream of going back. Complete with observations by Brewster Chamberlin, author of The Hemingway Log.
